Who can benefit from individual consultations with a career guidance specialist?
Individual counseling with a career guidance specialist is available for students with a migration and refugee background who live in Poznań and want to start their studies in the 7th or 8th grade of a Polish lower secondary school (szkoła podstawowa), secondary school (szkola ponadpodstawowa) or are already students of Poznań schools.
How to make an appointment for a consultation?
Consultations of the Center are free of charge. They take place during the institution's working hours, from Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. There is an opportunity to use the services of a Ukrainian, Russian and English translators.
How is the meeting going?
A consultation with a career guidance specialist is primarily a conversation during which you can talk about your educational and professional plans and present your career vision. If you do not know what you would like to do in the future, let the specialist know about it. You will also be able to identify your interests, skills, resources, goals you want to achieve. Based on the information received from you, the specialist will help you determine the educational and professional areas in which you can plan your educational and professional future. During the interview, you will also find out what the education system in Poland looks like, what the final exams are like; what is the recruitment process for high school and higher education institutions like.
The duration of each meeting depends on the individual needs of the student and the career guidance specialist. Usually, the consultation lasts 1.5-2 hours and takes place at the Career Counselling Centre for Youth (CDZdM) in Poznań on Dzialynskich street 4/5 (entrance from Nowowiejskiego street). Depending on the current epidemic situation related to COVID-19, meetings with a career guidance counselor may also take place remotely.
